Emily has the life every woman dreams of.
At 29, she has two beautiful kids, a live-in nanny, housekeeper, cook, and every imaginable luxury in the posh Upper East Side townhouse she shares with her drop-dead gorgeous husband, Louis Bruel. His company, Bruel Industries, owns a big chunk of New York City’s most sought-after real estate, and together Emily and Louis embody the perfect hot fairy tale couple for ten happy years of marriage.
But when Louis mysteriously starts pushing Emily away, becoming distant and secretive, she is forced to search for the truth among the lies, scandal and heartbreak of his past that threaten to shatter her world. What she finds out will test the strength of her love and her vows to the man of her dreams.
Can Emily and Louis rewind far enough back to a time when life was simpler and love was all they needed? Follow their story with the help of some of their favorite songs from the 80’s to discover just how deep and how far love will go.
Have you ever read a book and wondered “why isn’t everyone reading this???” For me, that was this past Thursday. My “I’m going to read for an hour” turned into finishing it at 1:45 a.m. and not caring about the loss of sleep. This book hit me with the feels!
I didn’t just read this book, I FREAKING INHALED IT! I got completely swept up in Emily and Luis’ whirlwind romance despite my initial misgivings about Luis and his intentions towards Emily. This book had moments of suspense that had my heart in my throat and me gnawing my cuticles. 100% total and complete “oh F me, I KNOW this can’t be actually happening or else I may lose my sh*t” moments. I swear at one point I thought I was going to have a heart attack with was going on. But, you can find that out for yourself.
Luis was suave and sexy throughout the entire book; he made me doubt him at times, but in the end he stole my heart with just one chapter. STOLE MY HEART I tell you! Emily, made me laugh and made my heart hurt for her at times. She was fun, loving, strong willed and I loved seeing younger Emily call Luis out on his smooth lines and holding her own with him. She may have been eleven years younger but she made sure he treated her with respect. Overall, I absolutely loved this book *sigh* it’s a definite one-click. I loved it so much I even got the audiobook. You won’t be sorry reading it. I can’t wait to see what Tali brings us in the future <3
