My name is Calla Price and I’m drowning.
My new world is a dark, dark ocean and I’m being pulled under by secrets.
Can I trust anyone? I don’t know anymore.
The lies are spirals. They twist and turn, binding me with their thorns and serpentine tongues. And just when I think I have it figured out, everything is pulled out from under me.
I’m entangled in the darkness.
But the truth will set me free.
It’s just ahead of me, so close I can touch it. But even though it shines and glimmers, it has glistening fangs and I know it will shred me.
Are you scared?
I received this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Today I’m celebrating the release of, VERUM, the second book in Courtney Cole’s psychological mind-bending NOCTE Trilogy!
Ok. Verum was just as jaw dropping, mind screwing, and WTF, if not more so than Nocte. Picking up where Nocte leaves off, we see Calla and Dare travel off to the UK so Calla can recover. I was all awesome, she can recover and I can find the answers to all of my questions. Did I get some answers? Yes. Do I have more questions? HELL YES! I swear I want to live inside Courtney’s head as she’s writing because I’m in awe with the twist and turns she’s able to come up with. Just when I thought I was figuring things out she hit me with a “Holy crap, I never anticipated THAT!” I’m convinced she sits behind her keyboard like an evil scientist thinking “hmmm, how can I possibly screw with their heads even more.” Or at least I hope she is because I love the twisted-ness of these books. If you’ve read Nocte (and you really should, it’s fabulous and $.99 at the time of this post)
you NEED to read Verum. We learn more about Calla’s mother’s family in this one as she’s staying with them as she heals, and we see that not everything is always as it seems. I’m ready for Lux and to uncover all of the secrets as well as see what kind of crazy ride Courtney has in store for us.
