A summer road trip changes everything in this unforgettable new tale from acclaimed author Katie McGarry. For new high school graduate Echo Emerson, a summer road trip out West with her boyfriend means getting away and forgetting what makes her so…different. It means seeing cool sights while selling her art at galleries along the way. And most of all, it means almost three months alone with Noah Hutchins, the hot, smart, soul-battered guy who's never judged her. Echo and Noah share everything—except the one thing Echo's just not ready for.But when the source of Echo's constant nightmares comes back into her life, she has to make some tough decisions about what she really wants—even as foster kid Noah's search for his last remaining relatives forces them both to confront some serious truths about life, love and themselves. Now, with one week left before college orientation, jobs and real life, Echo must decide if Noah is more than the bad-boy fling everyone warned her he'd be. And the last leg of an amazing road trip will turn…seriously epic.
I received this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Today I’ve got my review of Katie’s McGarry’s Breaking the Rules for you!
I’m officially convinced Katie’s books are impossible to put down, and, if you happen to put it down because, I don’t know, you require sleep…the book will taunt you lol. When I picked Breaking the Rules back up Wednesday night before bed I was at 20%. I told myself those famous last words of just a few chapters before bed. 73% later, at 93% and 2:45 a.m. (with my alarm set for 6 a.m.) I gave into my burning eyes and begrudgingly put my Kindle down. It was then that I SWEAR I heard whispers of “come on Holly, finish me, you only have 7% to go, you know you’re dying to find out how things end for Noah and Echo.” I was strong though and resisted saving the rest for after work…moving on…
Breaking the Rules was everything I was hoping it would be. With sequels I sometimes worry that they won’t live up to the amazingness of the first book, but, that is NOT the case here. At all! Picking up where Pushing the Limits ended, we get to experience Noah and Echo’s summer road trip, emotional road bumps and all. It wasn’t long before I found myself back in love with both of these characters. While they’ve come a long way since I first met them, I knew they still had a ways to go and issues to overcome. While Katie threw my heart in a blender at times, I absolutely LOVED seeing the obstacles these two faced. Despite facing their fears, insecurities, and questioning their future, their love for each other never waivers. Their obstacles only strengthened their love and that’s why I loved them. I loved feeling the love between Noah and Echo, they may be young but their love truly is this beautiful, epic, once-in-a-lifetime, forever love. I loved feeling the raw emotion between them. I was so proud of them and the way they developed and matured through the story. The writing is just fantastic, Katie captures the voice of real 18 year olds. Yes, Noah and Echo are incredibly smart, but they’re also still teens that are trying to find their footing in the adult world and Katie nails those feelings of confusion we all had at that age. Breaking the Rules and all of Katie’s books are perfect for romance readers of all ages. My greedy-grabby hands are ready and waiting for whatever she has in store for us next.
P.S. This book was totally worth the sleep deprivation!
Breaking the Rules will release on December 8th so you still have time to read book one, Pushing the Limits!
