The New York Times and USA Today bestselling Marked Men series continues with this sizzling, sexy story of love, heartbreak, fate, and second chances.
After the only girl he ever loved told him that he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and set out to live up to his nickname. A good ol’ boy looking for good times and good friends, Rowdy refuses to take anything too seriously, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Burned by love once, he isn’t going to let himself trust a woman again. But that’s before his new co-worker arrives, a ghost from the past who’s suddenly making him question every lesson he ever learned.
Salem Cruz grew up in house with too many rules and too little fun—a world of unhappiness she couldn’t wait to forget. But one nice thing from childhood has stayed with her; the memory of the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who’d been head over heels in love with her little sister.
Now, fate and an old friend have brought her and Rowdy together, and Salem is determined to show him that once upon a time he picked the wrong sister. A mission that is working perfectly—until the one person that ties them together appears, threatening to tear them apart for good.
An Interview with Rowdy and Salem
Laying on top of his tattooed chest, naked and tangled up, there are far more interesting things on her mind than asking Rowdy questions. He’s playing with her hair and still mulling over the questions he just asked her and all of her answers.
Salem: Do you like working together? Sometimes that’s hard for couples to manage.
Rowdy, his hands releasing her hair and skipping across her skin to run up and down her spine: I missed you for years and years. You were always the best friend I ever had, and I love looking at you, so, yes, I like working together. You’re good at what you do and with Cora being less active in the actual operation of things now, we need you, I need you. There are a lot of times I want to get really unprofessional with you, but I control myself.
Salem with a snort: No you don’t.
Rowdy: And you love it.
Salem: What was the first thought you had when you saw me standing at the top of the steps of the new shop?
Rowdy: Holy shit! And then I thought “Wow, how does the mere sight of this girl make my dick hard?” (She frowns at him as he grins up at her) Then, I thought “Time has only made her more beautiful and I hate her for that.” I really wanted to be able to ignore you.
Salem: I’m hard to ignore.
Rowdy rolling her under him so that he can cage her head in between his arms and kiss her…a lot: Impossible to ignore.
Salem: Does the fact that I’m older than you ever bother you?
Rowdy between kisses: No,that’s a stupid thing to get hung up on. Who cares about age, color, any of it? All I care about is you being here and you not leaving again.
Salem: That answer deserves a reward. If you could ask me for anything what would it be?
Rowdy settling back into her because now things are getting interesting: Your heart. I just want your heart.
She rolls her dark eyes at him and then they drift close as he starts to get busy with his hands and mouth: That was yours before either of us left Texas. I just don’t think we were paying close enough attention.
He hums his agreement against her skin and it’s obvious she better get her last question in quick before everything devolves back into sexy kisses and writhing bodies.
Salem: If you could tell your mom anything right now, what would it be?
Rowdy with a dry laugh: Not that I’m about to slide back into the girl of my dreams. Are you trying to ruin my mojo?
Salem: I was just curious and nothing ever ruins your mojo.
Rowdy: I would tell her that the family tree, I always worried about, is doing just fine and growing by leaps and bounds. There are more branches than I can count now, and the leaves just keep sprouting up. I would tell her, I finally ended up where I was always supposed to be…
That’s really sweet…and so is he, until he sets his mind to making her scream his name and keeping her up half the night.
That Salem is one lucky B and that’s all Holly has to say about that lol!
