Loving Cara is book #1 in Kristen’s Love Under the Big Sky series
CHEMISTRY WAS NEVER THIS SEXY IN HIGH SCHOOL.
In her sizzling new series, USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby sets the stage for a passionate reunion under the breathtaking Montana sky.
Cara Donovan’s summer tutoring job is turning out to be a challenge—and not just because of her troubled twelve-year-old student. It’s his uncle Josh who’s the real problem. Ifproblem is the word for an irresistibly cocky, muscle-bound rancher with a taste for tight Levi’s and shameless flirtation. . . .
Cara is nothing like the wallflower Josh King remembers good-naturedly teasing in high school. This Cara is gorgeous, confident, fun. From the moment the fiery teacher steps foot on his family’s Lazy K Ranch, the stubborn playboy is determined to corral her. So what happens when his luscious lover takes over the reins?
The first in a steamy trilogy, Kristen Proby’s enthralling novel is filled to the brim with one hardworking family’s triumphs and challenges, all the wild adventure of the modern West, and a whole lot of titillating fun.
“Okay, then teach me how to do this.” She positions the white ball on the green felt of the table, lining it up to hit a green stripe in the corner. I lean back against my stool and watch her lean over the table, her ass pulling the cotton of her dress tight, and she shoots, completely missing.
“Josh?” She looks back at me over her shoulder.
“Put the cue down, Cara.”
She frowns and lays the cue on the table and turns to me.
My arms are crossed over my chest, hands tucked firmly under my biceps as I lean on the chair, my feet shoulder-width apart.
“What is it?” She comes to stand directly in front of me.
I stare down at her for a moment, taking in her wide amber eyes, glassy from a little too much beer, and her long blond hair, tucked behind her ears now, showing off the hoops in her ears.
“You don’t want to play pool?” she asks with a raised brow.
I shake my head no, my face perfectly calm.
“What do you want to do?”
I lean in, still not touching her, and whisper directly into her ear, “I want to take you home and fuck the hell out of you all night long.”
I pull back in time to see her mouth drop in surprise, and then she sends me a sassy smile. “What are we waiting for?”
With a laugh, I bend down and lift her onto my shoulder, my forearm looped over the back of her thighs, careful to make sure the hem of her dress is covering all the necessary parts so I don’t have to kill anyone for looking up her skirt, and carry her out to the delight of the patrons still in the bar.
“Hey!” She slaps my ass and then braces herself on my hips as I slap hers back.
“Stay still, baby.”
“I was right, you are a caveman.”
“At least I’m not dragging you by your hair.”
“No, but can you still pull it later?” She giggles, earning another slap on her ass.
“You sure slap my ass a lot, caveman.”
“I fucking love your ass, baby.”
I had been waiting (not) patiently for Loving Cara so when it hit my Kindle, excited was an understatement. I love Kristen’s books and Loving Cara was no exception. In book one of her Under the Big Sky series we meet Josh & Cara; Josh runs the Lazy K, his family’s ranch and Cara is the local middle school teacher hired to tutor Josh’s nephew, Seth for the summer. If you’re familiar with Kristen’s writing (and if you’re not, you REALLY should familiarize yourself) you know she can write a chivalrous, sexy as hell alpha hero like no one’s business! Josh makes me want to find a job as a ranch hand somewhere, despite knowing it’s a dirty job involving touching things that would probably skeeve me out royally, I’d still do it if it meant I got to lust after a guy like him all day. Cara is a lucky woman whom I enjoyed tremendously! She was witty, sweet and caring. I loved her sense of humor and found myself talking out loud to her A LOT. Whenever she entertained her lustful thoughts about Josh I couldn’t help but agree out loud with her. There were a number of “ I know that’s right” & “I’m with you on that one.” I think she’s the first character that got me to talk back to her audibly lol. I enjoyed the banter between Josh and Cara; it was fun, easygoing and familiar. I like when characters have known each other all of their lives and circumstances bring them together. After Loving Cara I’m more certain than ever of three things: #1 Kristen KNOWS how to write swoon worthy romance, #2 she will ALWAYS be one of my must read authors and #3 she NEVER disappoints me. I’m already counting the days until Seducing Lauren, Ty & Lauren’s story…something tells me that’s going to be a scorcher!
