Happy Anniversary Kelsie Leverich! The Valentine’s Arrangement turns 1

Posted January 2, 2014 by Holly in / 1 Comment

It’s been one year since since Kelsie Leverich has published her debut, The Valentine’s Arrangement.
Since then, she’s been picked up by a major publisher and has continued to feed my addiction to her hot, sexy, military men 🙂 She’s one of the sweetest people and I wish she lived closer because I’d totally drink wine with her on days ending in Y lol. My girl Denise, from Flirty and Dirty Book Blog loves Kelsie just like I do. I wish Denise lived closer too, the more the merrier! Any hoo, to celebrate Kelsie’s anniversary we’ve interviewed Kelsie and we’re re-visiting our posts from The Valentine Arrangement’s…we also have a giveaway for you!!!

I sat with Kelsie yesterday and here’s what we talked about-

Kelsie, it’s been a year since you released The Valentine’s Arrangement, can you tell us how your life has changed since hitting publish?
I have met SO many amazing people since becoming an author. My new extended family has grown tremendously. LOL.   I have traveled more this last year than I have in a very long time.  My life has just changed in the fact that I’m doing something I absolutely love, something I can’t image not doing. And I never thought it would happen for me.
What have been some of the things you learned this year? The good and not so good?
A LOT!!! Let’s see….I have learned that I am terrible at time management. I am a huge procrastinator. And I actually work great under pressure…my house and my cooking just takes the backlash.
When you hit that publish button did you ever think one year later you’d be published and seeing your books on shelves in Target and Barnes & Noble? (Two of my favorite places, BTW)
NEVER EVER! It was a dream of mine to write and publish, to maybe have a handful of people read it. Did I want to sell a ton and make a list and have Target and B&N pick up my book? Well yeah! But I never thought it was a possibility.  To be honest, I still can’t believe it. My. Book. Is. On. Book. Shelves. In. Stores.  Yep, even when I say it out loud and slowly it still seems unreal!
Do your kids think it’s cool to have a mom who’s a bestselling author?
My son gets just as excited, if not more, every time I have “book news”. He is so sweet.  They are still young, so they don’t understand a lot of it, but they are excited!
You survived your first year in the author world with flying colors! Can you tell us what’s in store for year two?
The last book in the HARD FEELINGS series releases in May.  I also have a new series I am working on and I’m so excited about it! You can read the unofficial blurbs on my website.  There will be more signings and meeting more readers….and VEGAS! I’m so excited to go to Vegas again this year!
P.S. I love you <3

P.S. I love you more!

Denise sat with Kelsie as well and here’s what they chatted about-

1.      When you wrote The Valentine’s Arrangement, what were you hoping to accomplish?
Of course, I wanted to sell a ton of copies! LOL.  I wanted as many people to get their hands on Ronnie and Kale’s story as possible. My goal was to break the top 100.  I never thought any of that would actually happen for me though. So each goal that was achieved just blew me away, and I couldn’t have done it without the bloggers! You all kick major ass, ladies! xoxo
2.      Now a year later, you have 3 books published and more on the way, what’s next for Kelsie Leverich?
Just writing, writing, writing!
3.      What is it about the contemporary romance genre that entices you to write about these amazing characters? And do you see yourself writing in any other genre?
I love all romance. Paranormal, Dystopian, Historical, Contemporary, YA, NA….seriously, as long as there is strong romance elements, I will read it! I would LOVE to write a Historical romance. My downfall—research! LOL, it’s much easier to write what you know, which is why I write contemporary.
The first novel I ever wrote was Paranormal, and I LOVE that story. I don’t know if I’d ever publish it though. I’ve grown so much as a writer since I wrote it almost five years ago, and it needs a lot of work. But maybe someday!
4.      Your husband was military. Has he read any of your books and what does he think of the world he knows mixing with the romance book world?
He has read TVA, and he was impressed. He didn’t help me with the male POV for TVA, but he did a lot with FEEL THE RUSH. My husband is airborne so I needed lots of help writing about that.
The husband of one of my friends I made while my husband was in service read it. I was SO nervous, but he said I did a good job! So I suppose I got the solider stamp of approval for the romance world 🙂
5.      And of course, whether it’s a joint interview or not, you can’t get away from the #1 flirty and dirty question… tell us one flirty thing about you and one dirty thing about you.
AH! You girls! Okay….something flirty…..hmmm…..
My husband and I are always so silly and playful with each other. We are constantly flirty so it’s hard to pinpoint one thing!
Something dirty…..well, well, ladies. I believe I would need you to sign a NDA for me to reveal those secrets!

I originally reviewed The Valentine’s Arrangement and interviewed the delicious Kale in December 2012 and you can read that interview here and my review here

You can read Denise’s interview with Kelsie and her review here.

Here’s more info on The Valentine’s Arrangement!
Tattoo artist Ronnie Clark is counting the days until Valentine’s Day is over. Ronnie doesn’t do romance. She doesn’t do flowers or dates, and she sure as hell doesn’t do love—not anymore. Love leads to heartbreak, and she’s vowed never to let herself get hurt again.

Sergeant First Class Kale Emerson is home on his mid-tour leave from Iraq, but he only has one thing on his mind—returning to his soldiers to finish leading their mission. He’s dedicated to his men and to his country, and he’s not interested in getting wrapped up in a distracting relationship…but casual sex, that’s a different story. From the moment he sees Ronnie, he wants her. And he agrees to her terms—no romance, no fluff—just passion.

But as their sexual chemistry ignites, the lines of their arrangement get blurry, and Ronnie starts to push Kale away. And when Kale realizes he’s found his match in this razor-tongued, gorgeous woman who is hell bent against love, winning her heart could be the toughest battle he has ever fought.
