Amber Scott should be enjoying life as a college freshman. She should be pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She should be working hard to make sense of her precalculus math class.
She shouldn’t be waking up her college roommate with screaming nightmares. She shouldn’t be flashing back, reliving the three weeks of hell she barely survived last year. And she definitely shouldn’t be spending time with sexy player Marcus Reid.
But engineering student Marcus is the only one keeping Amber from failing her math course, so she grudgingly lets him into her life. She never expects the king of hookups will share his painful past. Or that she’ll tell him her secrets in return, opening up and trusting him in a way she thought she’d never be able to again.
When their fragile future together is threatened by a stalker Amber thought was locked away for good, Marcus is determined to protect her—and Amber is determined to protect Marcus…even if that means pushing him away
I’ve got Stina’s playlist for you!
Playlist for Tell Me When
This list is weighted heavily on the Bon Jovi side of things because the band is one of Amber and Marcus’s favorites. The songs are listed in the order that best represents the book. Click on the titles for the YouTube videos (or appropriate concert footage).
You Give Love A Bad Name by Bon Jovi
This song relates to the stalker who kidnapped Amber. The lines in the first verse best explain what Amber went through:
“You promise me heaven then put me through hell. Chains of love got a hold on me.
When passion’s a prison you can’t break free.”
Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” describes the girl Amber became after the kidnapping, even though she doesn’t always feel that way.
Part of Me by Katy Perry
This song goes a long way in explaining how Amber feels at times, but the following line is almost her motto in some scenes when it comes to what the stalker did to her: “This is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me.”
Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi
The line “I want to lay you down in a bed of roses” says it all.
Always by Bon Jovi
After a big reveal later in the book, this is how Marcus feels: “You see I’ve always been a fighter but without you I give up.”
In These Arms by Bon Jovi
This also describes how Marcus feels: “I would give anything, my blood, my love, my life, if you were in these arms tonight.”
Unconditionally by Katy Perry
The entire song fits Tell Me When, but the following lyrics describe the book perfectly:
“Come just as you are to me
Don’t need apologies
Know that you are worthy
I’ll take your bad days with your good
Walk through the storm I would
I do it all because I love you, I love you”
