In this thrilling and sexy follow-up to Sempre, two young lovers struggle to keep their relationship intact after they become deeply enmeshed in the dangerous mafia-run crime ring they once tried to overthrow.
Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco have been through a lot. Haven was taken in by Carmine’s father, and with his family’s help, she escaped a gruesome fate. However, saving Haven from the dark intentions of a mafia family cost Carmine a steep price: he was forced to swear loyalty to them.
Now, still passionately in love, Carmine and Haven must face the fall-out of Carmine’s forced service, as Haven discovers terrifying secrets about the family that enslaved both her and her mother—and why she matters so much in this intricate web of lies.
I’ve spent the like, the past year and a half waiting for Sempre: Redemption and…IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! For me, it was the perfect conclusion to Haven, Carmine and Vincent’s stories. I know situations occur here that may have royally pissed people off but I think they were absolutely necessary. Fairly early on, Vincent has a conversation with Haven and I think he explained perfectly why it was necessary. In Redemption, we get to see Haven blossom and truly come into her own as a free woman. We get to see her go to art school and develop friendships with others, which is something she needed to do on her own. Carmine gave her wings, and she owed it to him to fly and make him proud. And she did. I was proud of her but yet, I hurt for her at the same time. Carmine on the other hand was dealing with life in La Famiglia the only way he knew how…with of a bottle of Grey Goose amongst other illegal recreational drugs. He really did become a hot mess, BUT again, I feel like it needed to happen for him to truly grow up, wake up and stop being a little shit. Carmine and Haven never had it easy and this time was no different. If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, that’s how you know it’s yours forever. Sempre. Their love is still epic whether together or apart; sometimes you just need to take a little detour on your journey to the HEA. Sempre: Redemption still had all of the suspense, raw grit and ultimate love story that I expected. I still laughed, sobbed, chewed my cuticles nervously, and rooted for Carmine and Haven just as much as I did with Sempre. JM may have broken my heart at times BUT she more than made up for it with the epilogue! That epilogue made up for every tear of sadness I shed while reading. Just like Sempre, Sempre: Redemption is one I can re-read over and over.
Sempre: Redemption is a hands down 5 star for me
