Title: Working It
Author: Kendall Ryan
Release Date: November 11 2013
A story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.
Straight-laced and well-mannered southerner Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City’s fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notoriously tyrannical Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there’s one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.
Ben is everything Emmy’s not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well-traveled. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emmy’s refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.
Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben’s twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened.
Grab an ice cold drink before you start reading because Working It is a HOT one! There were more than once scene where I was positive my Kindle would melt. From the prologue, we knew at one point in the story Ben and Emmy had fallen in love with each other…until Ben does something to mess it up. BUT Kendall put a great twist on the usual way the guy messes up a relationship in romance stories. I was completely thinking “Oh, let me guess, Emmy catches him with someone else and misreads the situation blah blah blah”
I was WRONG I was hit with a total “Holy crap, I didn’t see THAT coming”
Moving on…Emmy was our sweet southern girl who found her self being the assistant to the biggest witch on the East coast, Fiona Stone, Owner of Status Model Management. I HATED her but I loved hating her. Kendall made me want to just spit on her for the horrible way she treated Emmy. She was cruel, spiteful and shockingly jealous of Emmy…Emmy had one thing she wanted…
Ben was just sinfully delicious! He was gorgeous and actually a nice guy under that perfect face and body. He was attracted to Emmy’s “realness” she was the first person to treat him like a regular guy. She didn’t want anything from Ben Shaw super model. Ben also had a fabulously filthy mouth and was a master sexter.
Reading how Ben and Emmy’s relationship began and subsequently developed was entertaining, the story flowed and I really liked seeing Ben just able to be himself when he was with Emmy. Not everyone is so accepting of their relationship and trust me some will stop at nothing to try and end it. I read Working It in one sitting, it was the perfect way for me to end my Thanksgiving day. It was also perfect meeting a model colleague of Ben’s, Braydon…there were two fabulous scenes between him, Ben and Emmy…
2 hot guys + 1 hot girl – their clothes = get your batteries/boyfriend/husband!
I’s so ready for the next book. Kendall please write fast!!!
