Better is the follow up to Good (book 1 in the Too Good Series)
In order to read Better you MUST read Good first. You can pick up Good at:
Their relationship has been exposed, and now their lives are changed forever.
For Cadence Miller, the fast track to adulthood proves intimidating and frustrating. She’s a little girl lost—abandoned by her parents and uncertain of her future. She doesn’t think she “fits” anywhere. She’s eighteen. She wants to be older. And the result is both comical and heartbreaking.
Mark Connelly will do anything to provide Cadence a stable, loving home—to be her protector. But he’s just as broken and lost, and his heart won’t let go of his past so easily. He knows he must share his secret with Cadence. And he hopes his revelation won’t tear them apart. He hopes it will draw them closer, and make their love better.
Since the end of Good left me OMG’ing I have been dying to get my grabby hands on Better! S. Walden definitely left me wanting more with that one. In Better, we get our sequel told through Mark’s POV, which I loved! I love nothing more than getting inside our hero’s head. Better is told in the present day but we do get flashbacks; we learn what Mark was thinking the very first time he saw Cadence while she was picking up trash, and we learn how he did in fact fight & struggle with his feelings he was having about her. I think for the readers that were anti Mark in Good, you may feel differently for him after reading Better. I liked Mark in Good but I loved him during Better. He proved not only with words but more so with his actions, that he truly does love Cadence. After Cadence stumbles upon his secret and confronts him, things take a turn towards the self destructive for Cadence. She’s not sure how to handle her feelings about Mark’s past, she feels hurt and betrayed and she wants to make Mark hurt just as badly. This is where I started to love him, no matter how many times Cadence purposely hurts him, (and trust me, she puts him through the ringer) Mark is still right there for her loving her unconditionally. Better shows us that no matter what, love truly can heal and put your broken pieces back together and that if two people love each other, they can overcome any roadblock they face. All in all, Better was a great conclusion to this series.
I give Better 4 stars

:About S. Walden:
S. Walden used to teach English before making the best decision of her life by becoming a full-time writer. She lives in Georgia with her very supportive husband who prefers physics textbooks over fiction and has a difficult time understanding why her characters must have personality flaws. She is wary of small children, so she has a Westie instead. Her dreams include raising chickens and owning and operating a beachside inn on the Gulf Coast (chickens included). When she’s not writing, she’s thinking about it.
She loves her fans and loves to hear from them. Email her at firstname.lastname@example.org and follow her blog at http://swaldenauthor.blogspot.com where you can get up-to-date information on her current projects.
