Blog Tour: Unbreakable by Rebecca Shea – my review!

Jessica Harper is the epitome of perfection. She’s a good daughter, makes excellent grades, and always strays on the safe side of life. The last thing she thought would ever happen was falling in love with her best friend’s brother. But sometimes fate just has a way of bringing two people together.
Wide receiver for the University of Arizona, Gabe Garcia, seems to have it all. When his feelings for Jessica come to surface, Gabe will give up everything to be with her.
But what happens when a tragedy abruptly changes the course of your life? For Jessica and Gabe, everything they thought they knew about each other will be questioned. Sometimes, there are scars in life that are cut too deep to completely heal.
Will their love prove to be unbreakable, or will it shatter and prove fate is just another lie?
*This book contains mature subject matter and is not intended for those under 17 years of age.*

I’m not sure I know how to start here because I feel like I won’t be able to do Unbreakable the justice it truly deserves but I’ll do my best. Unbreakable was emotional, heart breaking at times, and made me happy at other. It was an overall fantastic read for me. Rebecca gave us characters that worked their way into your heart without you even realizing it. Our heroine Jessica goes through an absolutely horrible situation (I’m in NO way downplaying what she goes through AT ALL by calling it a situation, I just don’t want to give anything away) which understandably destroys her physically, mentally and emotionally in ways I can’t imagine. As I was reading I started to wonder “what if that was me? How would I handle it?”

*sigh* Gabe…Gabe was my heart breaker. I found myself crying a lot with  him; at one point I ugly cried through an entire chapter told from Gabe’s POV. He was the ideal boyfriend- loving, caring, attentive, hard working; he wanted to give Jess the life he felt she deserved and be the man worthy of her. He was also man enough to show his feelings. He also was left broken by what happened to Jess and he blamed himself for it. He says he failed her.
What I loved about this book is I was just reading along blissfully unaware, without a care in the world enjoying the happy love story between these two and then *BAM* Rebecca hit me with THAT twist I never saw coming! It took a few pages before the reality of what happened to Jess hit me, but when it I had a complete “Oh sh*t moment” eyes wide, hand over my gasping mouth, thinking OMG you poor girl!!!
I’m sure I probably babbled through this review and feel free to tell me so but for me Unbreakable left me saying “WOW this book was fantastic” when I was done. It’s a story of overcoming a horrible life changing situation along with learning that healing, forgiveness and strength comes from within first and foremost.

Unbreakable was a raw & emotional for me and was high on the angst meter. I loved every minute of it!

For me,
I’m giving this 5 stars.
This is a book/story you don’t forget simply because you read the last page; the characters and story will
stay with you and it’s definitely worthy of multiple reads.
