Kylie Wolfe and guitarist Wyatt McRae have been bad for each other for the last several years, but it’s
impossible for them to end their toxic push and pull. Not when their attraction is constantly fueled by
lust and proximity—she’s her older brother’s Lucas’s assistant and Wyatt is his best friend and band
So when Your Toxic Sequel makes a move to record a new album in Nashville, Kylie decides to make the
latest break with Wyatt official by getting the hell out of town. She’ll spend a week in New Orleans. A
week to immerse herself in the Mardi Gras scene. One week to not think about the last time she was in
New Orleans, seven years ago with Wyatt. Seven days where she won’t have to see Wyatt every day just
to fall ridiculously in love with him all over again—where, if she wants to, she can have a normal, nostrings
attached fling that won’t end in heartbreak.
Too bad Wyatt ruins everything by showing up, as gorgeous and demanding and goddamn awful for her
Wyatt refuses to let Kylie give up on him. Not without reminding her why they both fell so far and hard
in the first place. Not without making her savor the good memories and what could be their last chance
with each other.
Note: This is a spinoff from the Devoured series.
I asked Emily what prompted her to write Kylie & Wyatt’s story-
Thanks so much for being a part of the Savor You blog tour, Holly. You are made of all sorts of awesome! Today for my guest post, I’ll be talking—well, writing—about what promoted me to write Kylie and Wyatt’s story.
Several months ago, I was watching Once Upon a Time, which is one of my favorite TV shows. The episode was about Ruby/ Red (Red Riding Hood) and halfway through, I had a thought: What would happen if the wolf wanted Red for an entirely different reason? Of course, this idea lead me to write a book about a moody rocker and the redhead he wanted to devour (<– see what I did there!) and I self-published that book a few months after my initial idea. Still, the entire time I was writing Devoured one character kept talking to me well after I closed the Word document.
Kylie with her blue and black hair and big heart had somehow worked her way into my brain and she was giving me all sorts of ideas. I had a hard time forcing her out, but I managed it. I released Devoured and started on Consumed and Tidal. Even though the itch to work on a book about Kylie was still present the entire time I was working on my other projects, I continued to ignore it. But then I wrote All Over You, the Devoured prequel. And as soon as I wrote the first twenty pages that introduce to readers to a brief Kylie and Wyatt history, it was impossible for me to avoid writing their story. I mean, hell, the idea for their story hit me like a ton of bricks. So, after I was finished with my other projects and All Over You was released, I sat down to work on Savor You. The story came out incredibly fast because the characters refused to leave me alone.
But I love that. And I plan to embrace my latest big burst of inspiration (think Cal & Heidi) later his summer.
Once again, thanks so much for having me on your blog, Holly. You rock! <3
Emily thank you for stopping by; come back anytime! I can’t wait to see you in NY in
25 days…not that I’m counting or anything…
Folks, I for one am glad Kylie & Wyatt’s story wouldn’t leave Emily alone and as for that Heidi and Cal burst of inspiration…welllll here’s how I feel about that!
I was excited to get to know Kylie better in Savor You. After getting just a little tease of knowing some kind of drama existed between her and Wyatt this nosey girl needed details!
Kylie and Wyatt have years of an on and off again relationship that’s as angsty as you can get! For a couple that’s so blatantly meant to be they just can’t seem to get it right; somehow someway one ends up hurting the other. Kylie decides she needs a break and time away from Wyatt so her and her BFF Heidi head to NOLA. This time is it; she’s done, she’s getting over Wyatt and moving on. She won’t let his behavior hurt her anymore. Her plan of getting away from him didn’t quite work out like she had hoped seeing as how all her Foursquare check ins lead Wyatt straight to her. Wyatt has finally gotten his head out of his rear and realized Kylie is “the one” and this time he’s determined to get things right and not let her go. He’s fighting for one last chance to get things right.
“Did you think I’d really give you up so easily, beautiful? Did you really think I’d let you go without reminding you why you fucking fell in the first place?”
Wyatt takes Kylie on a road trip to visit all of their old spots hoping that reminding her why they fell in love to begin with will change her mind and give them another shot. Once their trip down memory lane I couldn’t stop reading; I realized that while I love Lucas and Sienna’s story, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kylie and Wyatt’s. I love the history between them; the good, the bad and the ugly. I love the undeniable passion between them. I love that even though they’re really good at hurting the other, they’re also really good at loving each other. I loved it all. The writing was outstanding! As they reminisced on the more painful parts of their past together Emily made me hurt for them. I could feel the hurt Kylie felt all the times Wyatt messed up and I could feel the love Wyatt has for her along with the sincerity in his voice during the moments he’s trying to get her to give him another chance.
“You’re what I love, Ky.” Dropping his hands to my shoulders, he continues, “I don’t know what you want from this anymore, but I know what I need. That’s you. And don’t try to bullshit me into thinking you don’t need me, too. You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t.”
I can’t recommend Savor You enough, it really is a beautiful love story with broken yet strong characters, hot smexy love scenes thanks to Wyatt and his incredible epic dick (Kylie’s words not mine) and writing that will grab you from the get go.
