Martha had weathered her fair share of storms in Vermont, was accustomed to the cold, both the chill in the air and the cold shoulder in her marriage, but after the miscarriage she felt like she would never get warm again. So she did the research from the laptop while sitting in front of the fireplace. She knew what she needed when she Googled ‘hope,’ she just never imagined that it would bring her to New Hope, South Carolina. She never imagined that her husband would trick her into leaving and never follow. She never imagined that a southern storm with all its force and fury could be so destructive. But after the storm, the land is washed clean. It’s perfect for a fresh start, a clean slate, and a new love.
Sometimes the life you planned isn’t the one you get to live. Sometimes the pain of the past overshadows the future. And sometimes to start over you have to go back to where it all began. That’s how it was for Joe Masters. That’s how he ended up back in New Hope.

Incredibly sweet but sad story of two broken and lost souls, the author took her time
to go into the details of their shattered lives. Martha/Marti the naïve and loyal wife to Blaine the successful plastic surgeon. Blaine, the cheating husband who treats Martha as if she’s invisible. Suzette the office bimbo that Blaine is screwing and then Joe, a man burned by the love of a woman swore he would never fall again.
Seriously, what the hell was Martha thinking when she married that dirt bag Blaine.
She gave up what could have been a promising career only to become a shadow
in his life, a cold and neglectful man and she deserved much better.
I wanted to jump into the screen of my kindle and punch him in the face.
Now, I’m not a violent person but he is the lowest of the low, scum of the earth.
It wasn’t until she traveled to New Hope, SC in search of a new home for them
that she realized what a scoundrel he really is.
Ahh, but good can come from disappointment and despair and is name is Joey.
Bachelor and known ladies man and when they meet the atmosphere is filled
with heat and energy. Now, Joey I loved, built, sexy and the kind of man
who notices everything about a woman and isn’t afraid to tell her.
This isn’t your typical jump into bed to see how many
times and positions they can f**k, rather a tender, affectionate and at
times funny account of their developing relationship. The banter between
the two felt real, it was as if they belonged together and you hoped they
would connect. The end had me screaming nooo, this can’t be happening.
Yes, a cliffhanger, which left me pulling my hair out! I couldn’t decide on whether
to rate this a 3 or a 4, because my usual books have the characters in bed and
spread eagle by chapter 2/3, raw explicit up against the wall banging ( yes, I’m a dirty girl) and then I thought this is a contemporary novel and knowing this I asked myself would I wait to read the second book in the New Hope Series… Hell Yeah, so therefore I give it
4 thumbs up!
“You’re even more of a cold hearted bastard than I gave you credit for”
“Oh, you pompous, overbearing pig of a man!”
“It’s not the life I wanted, But I gave up so much to make him happy
and secure his dreams. I just learned to make the best of it. I did that for so long that now…I don’t remember what I wanted. I certainly don’t know what I want now.
I’m thirty five and I have to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.”
“Baby, I hate when you leave, but I sure do like to watch you walk away”
“We’re finally starting to live. Let’s make a memory.”
