Music of the Heart World Tour: Interview with AJ!

Posted April 2, 2013 by Holly in Blog Tour, Interview / 3 Comments

Synopsis:

For Abby Renard, the plan was supposed to be simple—join her brothers’ band on the last leg of their summer tour and decide if she’s finally ready for the limelight by becoming its fourth member. Of course, she never imagined stumbling onto the wrong tour bus at Rock Nation would accidentally land her in the bed of Jake Slater, the notorious womanizing lead singer of Runaway Train. When he mistakes her for one of his groupie’s, Abby quickly lets him know she sure as hell isn’t in his bed on purpose.

Jake Slater never imagined the angel who fell into his bed would resist his charms by promptly kneeing him in the balls. Of course, the fact she seems like a prissy choir girl makes her anything but his type. So he is more than surprised when after betting Abby she wouldn’t last a week on their tour bus, she is more than willing to prove him wrong. But as Jake’s personal life begins to implode around him, he finds an unlikely ally in Abby. He’s never met a woman he can talk to, joke with, or most importantly make music with.

As the week starts comes to a close, neither Abby nor Jake is ready to let go. Can a sweetheart Country songstress and a bad boy of Rock N Roll actually have a future together?

I had the pleasure of interviewing the schmexy AJ Resendiz from Katie Ashley’s Music of the Heart!

Katie’s muse was Nico Vazquez
Isn’t he yummy?!

Hey there my little Papi Chulo AJ!
Welcome and thank you for joining me today 😀
Gracias por tenerme, bella dama. *winks* Thanks for having me, Holly.
How is everything? Can I get you something to drink?
I like a lady who is willing to take care of my needs. *chuckles* But I’m all good, thanks.
So Alejandro, I like the way that rolls off the tongue, you’re Runaway Train’s drummer
extraordinare
Ha, Holly, since you’re a lovely lady, I’ll let you get away with calling me Alejandro. Usually only my mother and my grandmother get away with that.
And yes, I’m not just the drummer, but I do some background vocals as well.
(Hmmmm I’ll let AJ sing to me!)
-How old were you when you started playing the drums?
I was three when I got my first drum set. But I was five when I actually sounded like I was doing more than just banging, so my parents decided to get me lessons.
-What sparked your interest in them?
My mother’s family is all from Guadalajara in Mexico, which is where Mariachi was formed. There’s a long line of musicians on that side of the family. I grew up surrounded by music, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
-When you started playing did you hope to become a famous musician?
No, at the time, I just wanted to jam and have fun with my family. Then in high school, Jake and I formed a band—a really shitty one, lol. It wasn’t until college that we met Rhys and Brayden, and that’s when the true magic happened. We dropped out of school to start promoting. If Runaway Train hadn’t made it big, I would have gone back to school and done something with Criminal Justice.
-I know you’re on the road a lot touring with Runaway Train; what’s your favorite thing about touring? Any not so favorite things about it?
I love getting to see the different parts of the country and the world.
I hate being away from my family and friends. I mean, don’t get me wrong. The guys are my family, but it gets a little tedious being in such close, crammed quarters for long periods at a time.
-How do you deal with all of the ladies on tour?
*winks* I try to spread my love around.
-Speaking of all the ladies, has any special lady caught your eye since we last saw you in Music of the Heart?
*scratches the back of his neck* Um, well, there might be a girl. We’re trying to see where things take us.
-When you’re not touring what do you do to keep yourself amused?
I love hanging out with my family and friends. I usually go to Mexico three or four times a year to visit with my mother’s family. I like to keep it real with my roots.
-So AJ rumor has it Katie has your story planned next, anything you can tell us about it?
You know, I wish I could tell you more, but we’re both kinda stunned at the moment that readers want to read more about Runaway Train—mainly about me….yeah, and Rhys too!!!
