Review: Wreck Me by J.L. Mac

Life can be cruel. People can be ruthless and evil. The world can be cold and uninviting. No one knows these things better than Josephine Geroux. By her own definition, she is a twenty-five year old “nobody with nothing,” and she is content to stay that way. Growing up an orphan has made her tough and indifferent to the people around her until she meets a strangely familiar man with a face that haunts her for reasons she can’t understand.

Despite the pain that will inevitably ensue, she makes it her mission to discover what parts of her tragic puzzle she is missing. On her journey to discovering why the she feels an alarming connection to an absolute stranger, her greatest fear is reawakening the demons and darkness from the past that will surely overtake her if she lets her guard down.

Little does Josephine know that the past should be the least of her worries. She is toying with a man who has already broken her heart once. She just doesn’t realize it.
Although she makes it a point to avoid interactions with others, Josephine’s life becomes entangled with the enigmatic stranger. Before she realizes it, she has given herself over to the one person who is close enough to wreck her.

Wreck Me was the first book from J.L. Mac I had the pleasure of reading but it definitely won’t be the last (I have Seven Years Bad Luck on my TBR and it’s since moved up)  Wreck Me was absolutely EXCELLENT and I’m telling you now the ending of the book did exactly what the title says…Wrecked Me!!! Like WTF J.L. Mac how could you do this to me?!?!?!?!?!?!

Without going into super details because I don’t want to spoil anything, we have Jo our heroine who, thru heartbreaking tragedy finds herself a “prisoner” of the foster system starting from age 9 until she was 16 when she decided to leave the system and fend for herself on the street. I have to say I admired her tremendously! She learned to survive on her own with nothing and no one, except for a caring librarian who allowed Jo to find shelter in the library during operating hours keeping her safe along with letting her indulge her passion for reading; she also encouraged Jo to get her GED. Goodness knows Jo got handed a crap deal but she made the best with the hand she was dealt. She didn’t expect hand outs or charity and she never felt like someone owed her something.
Our sexy dominant Damon looks suave and put together on the surface but don’t let his looks and cool confident demeanor fool you, this big hunk o’sexy has got secrets the size of the Grand Canyon buried inside of him! And that’s all I’m saying on that front…BUT if you pay attention to what you’re reading and follow the context clues that J.L. thoughtfully & cleverly laid out, you, like me will be speculating  on his secrets like a Law & Order detective…My first thought on Damon’s identity left me

and messaging J.L. with OMG I think…and she just laughed!!!

That only fueled my fire to keep reading and not stop until I was done. I had to keep reading to find out his secrets and how those secrets would affect those around him and I also had to keep reading this beautiful relationship  developing between Jo and Damon and to get answers to the instant connection they felt and to see if they could survive once Damon’s secrets surfaced…

This is a 5 star book full of secrets, omissions of truths, love, passion, steam and heartbreak.

I know I’m leaving out some key details but honestly this is one of those books where one wrong word and you’re putting 2+2 together and I don’t want to spoil it. Hands down Wreck Me gets
