“Who gives a damn about their reputation? Oh, that would be me! Especially since mine had gone straight to hell in the span of thirty minutes”.
Maysie Ardin is soaking up the summer before her junior year of college, shopping, hanging by the pool and shopping some more. But when her black belt in spending lands her in trouble with her parents, she is forced to take a second job at a local bar to dig herself out of a deep financial pit.
She thought she’d be miserable. But then Maysie didn’t count on Jordan Levitt, the hot, pierced and tattooed, drum playing bartender who also happens to be very interested in her. And the feelings are totally mutual.
It had the makings of the perfect romantic set up. Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy has girlfriend? Okay, maybe not.
But attraction is a hard thing to ignore and soon Jordan and Maysie find themselves in the middle of a gossip induced firestorm. Maysie has to learn whether she can set aside her fear of public disapproval in order to be with the one she wants. Or will she let the opinions of others dictate her life and her heart?
Thank you Meredith for giving me an ARC!
I can’t really put into words just how much I really realllyyyyy loved Bad Rep. Like I loved it A LOT A LOT!!!
I loved the characters; they were ALL completely relatable, you either know people like best friends/roommates Maysie & Riley or you are them! They were the perfect friendship ying & yang;
And the girls of Maysie’s sorority, with the exception of two girls, were perfect villains!
But I’m saving the best for last…Jordan Pruitt! Jordan is our gorgeous pierced, tattooed drummer/bartender and resident sex god who also happens to be sweet, thoughtful and ROMANTIC!
He’s like the unicorn of men…you hear about them but have never encountered them lol
At one point he tells Maysie:
“I wanted to tell you that I couldn’t stop thinking about your face. That you had burrowed your way so deep into my veins that I would fucking bleed you. That if I died tomorrow, I could go a happy man for having felt your lips on my skin.”
Maysie and Jordan meet when she’s made to get a second job to pay back her parents for the credit card bill she racked up, so when her BFF Riley suggested she come with her to fill out an application at their local college bar she figures it’s flexible hours and good tips…SCORE!
The first time these two met I swear you heard the snap, crackle, pop of electricity between them.
It was like fireworks on the 4th of July!
Riley noticed it too…
“Stop it!” she hissed. I frowned and rubbed my arm. “What are you talking about?” I whispered back. Riley pointed at me, waggling her finger. “I know that look on your face! You’re picturing him naked with you naked.”
Now after that quip I kinda pictured Jordan naked with me naked…maybe…ok I did but you’ll see Jordan is jalapeno chili pepper hot!
“I knew Jordan’s type. And I was attracted to them like bees to tasty, hormone soaked honey.”
The drama starts when Jordan starts pursuing Maysie…innocent right? But oh NO Jordan also happens to be the long time boyfriend of Maysie’s sorority sister and president…So once Maysie found that tidbit out she swears him off; avoids him at all costs despite his constant admissions that he and Olivia’s relationship is essentially over…But dammit that hottie drummer is persistent! And believe me watching Jordan chase Maysie is a MUST READ!
My first night reading I got up to chapter 7 and was pissy that my eyes were getting heavy! I was like noooooo I have to know if they get together!!!
The next night I read up to the end of chapter 15 and I was completely omg omg omg’ing and again I was pissy that my eyes were closing! (it was 2 a.m. and my alarm goes off at 6 a.m.)
By this point Maysie & Jordan had finally gotten what they wanted 😉 and I contemplated forgoing sleep altogether but alas sleep won out and I was determined to finish the book the next day, and I did!
I wasn’t letting anything stop me from what was in store for these two…because you know Jordan’s scorned ex-girlfriend wasn’t going to let him go that easy…and believe me her and her cronies made life miserable for Maysie…the things they did to her could’ve been taken from real life; Meredith did a great job capturing the feelings and emotional impact of being bullied as well as the typical double standard between men and women…I mean Maysie really didn’t do anything wrong, she stayed away once she knew Jordan was taken HE kept chasing her. There were times while I was reading I thought I’d need an Xanax to calm me down…I was all “noooooooo this can not be happening” and times where I was literally crying “whyyyyyyyy are you doing this to my emotions Meredith!”
“You’re right, baby. We began out of something ugly. But what we became was something beautiful. I just wish I could make you see that.”
and times where I was squirming in my seat from some of the naughty times 😉
Ok so I’m going to end my babbling now…basically this was a freaking awesome book with characters you’ll laugh and cry with and for and a realistic story line…you won’t be disappointed at all!
