My review of Love and Skate by Lila Felix

From Amazon:
On the rink she’s tough, she’s a leader, she’s fast and she’s the epitome of a rebellious girl. But Nellie’s been hurt, only once, but it was enough to make her look at life through different eyes and off the rink she’s a timid girl who loves with no pretenses.
A long time ago Owen Black was betrayed by the girl he thought he loved and the guy he called his best friend. The anguish set off a domino effect of negativity in his life and he never has fully recovered. He meets Nellie Forrester and thinks he can let it go for her.
But how can you love someone when the wounds from your past are still wide open?

My review:

I received an ARC of Love and Skate to read and review
Love and Skate is Lila’s third book and so far Lila is three for three with me! I don’t think she’s capable of writing a bad story. I finished it in under3 hours and it was totally worth the stiff legs I got from not getting up frommy bed lol.
Nellie and Owen are both pierced and tattooed and come across hard as nails nothing affects them individuals but once you get to know them you find that’s not true at all!
They’ve both been hurt by people in their past relationships leading them both to have trust issues; Owen more than Nellie, which almost destroys their beautiful relationship.
And again like in Lila’s previous 2 books our heroine has a strained relationship with her parents which sometimes I like to read because that’s real life, not every one has a sunshine and rainbows family life.  Her parents are just unloving, horrible people in my opinion just because Nellie doesn’t fit their “idea” of how she should look and behave. And there’s a scene in the book where I just shook my head at her mother! All I could think of was you mean hurtful bi*ch!
Owen on the other hand has a great relationship with his parents, he however has a strained relationship with himself…for as good looking, sweet, caring and wonderful as he is all he sees is the guy, who, after being hurt by his ex went on a self destructive downward spiral and feels he ruined his parents marriage. And it’s his inner demons that almost destroys him and Nellie.
This time around we got 2 broken characters and I loved every second of seeing these two put each other back together!!!
Trust me, Love and Skate (along with Lila’s previous two books) will not disappoint…you’re guaranteed a story full of characters so real and a love so lasting and deep between her main characters it’ll stay with you long after you finish reading!
