Review: Emerge by Lila Felix

Emerge is one of those stories that will stay with you long after you finish reading. You’re drawn into Jenna’s story from the first page and Lila makes you feel that you’re right there with her feeling her ups and downs. Jenna really is such a  strong character, despite her evil mother and sh*tful stepfather treating her terribly wrong for far too long she’s remained such a sweet pure hearted girl.

Now…enter Carlos…Jenna and Carlos end up in the same drama class and unbeknownst
to her, he’s had the biggest crush on her since the first time he saw her and it was nice watching their relationship unfold at a normal for high schoolers pace…I have to say I loved Carlos from the start, he knew Jenna had secrets but he never pried or forced her to tell him but once he knew what they were he vowed he’d protect her and not only told her so, he SHOWED her repeatedly. Another thing I liked about Carlos was that he was normal, he wasn’t this popular beefcake or rich, he lived with his older brother and went to HS full time and worked full time. I really can’t say enough good things about Emerge, it really is a wonderful story and extremely well written for Lila’s first book.

If you’re looking for something new to read give Emerge a try I promise you won’t be disappointed!
